The Data Collection Process

The data collection process includes two main types of variables: initial variables and additional variables (both can be either internal or external, depending on the country). The initial variables were obtained from the analysis of the contributor countries, while the additional variables were obtained from the preliminary analysis of the NCCs.

Initial variables:
UN/UN peacekeeping policy reform
Perception of peacekeeping
Domestic political environment
Domestic economic environment
Military affairs
Foreign policy

Additional variables found after the preliminary analysis:
Climate changes
Independent negotiations taken by DPKO to seek troops
Independent negotiations taken by contributor countries to engage non-contributor countries
Meetings organized by other international organizations to engage in dialogue about peacekeeping

The following section explains how the data will be presented.
